old world cup fever talk
I have been lazy and haven't posted anything in ages. So I thought I'd cheat and copy something for you to read.
Here is a little discussion for your amusement, it was found on the Exercise and Sports Science webCT discussion boards (Kieron is their lecturer):
Post 1:
Kieron,
Over the past week and a half i have come down with a very severe bout
of World Cup Fever. Symptoms include drowsiness, irregular sleeping
patterns and i have come out in a Green and Gold rash. I was wondering
if this was suitable grounds for special consideration in respect to
tomorrow's Biochemistry exam.
I am also aware that this fever is highly contageous, and that it has
spread around the course like wildfire, so im sure i speak for many
others with this query.
Yours sincerely
Martin
Post 2:
Dr K,
I too have been struck down by the World Cup Fever (WCF) epidemic, only my strain is more severe than Martin's. My symptoms also include a strange localised alopecia, combined with odd hexagonal patches of dermatitis across the scalp, giving my head an uncanny resemblance to a soccer ball. I can't even walk down the street without being stared and jeered at, it's horrible.
I am unable to wear a hat to disguise the markings, due to the sensitivity of the skin and have found that the only remedy is to wear a paper bag over my head. I, like Martin, beseech you for special consideration for chronic WCF sufferers throughout our course. I would like to avoid the humiliation of sitting an exam with a paper bag over my head.
Yours sincerely,
Toby
The lectuer's reply:
What you boys need is a serious dose of "Prioritix". It is a new drug on the market which, once administered, aids in the development of undergraduate priorities. .....
Sorry, No special consideration for "watching sport".
Kieron.
P.S. Toby ..... no offense, but perhaps incorporating a paper bag into your wardrobe is not particularly a bad thing ..... =)
