hee hee another coincidence

After I googled to find the exact date of that Spoon concert for the previous entry, I randomly clicked on one of the website addresses because it said 'click to enlarge.' I thought maybe that person might have some photos of the concert, granted Kimmie and I took plenty of photos already.

Sure enough this person was at the concert and had a few photos posted. The funny thing was that this person's blog uses the same spotty template that I use.

These may be only small coincidences, but what can I say? I'm easily amused.

word on o week

This is just a weird and wonderful coincidence I decided to report here... for the sake of it.

I was checking out O week events at Sydney Uni. They usually have bands playing for free around lunch time (1:00pm to be more precise) on the front lawns at the main campus.

There are 2 bands that are going to play... and guess who they are!

On Monday the 2nd of March is Dappled Cities Fly!
On Tuesday the 3rd of March is Starky!

This isn't surprising news because I'm a die-hard fan or anything like that (they're okay), but it is surprising because these were the same bands that supported Spoon on the 16th of September last year.

So considering the source of this coincidence this post is probably only of any interest to Kimmie who went to the concert with me.

Btw Kimmie, congrats once again! You're an aunt now!

update

Oooooops! Since my last blog entry (which I completed just hours ago) there was a new blog entry from Bob (I'm referring to the Franz Ferdinand website I mentioned). This means Nick's last entry isn't the latest of entries for the 15th of February 2006.

Here's an extract from the blog and the new matching photo that was just added as well.

"Hello everybody. It’s me, Bob. I’m sitting in Hong Kong airport right now waiting to board a flight to Singapore. The Hong Kong gig last night was great. Afterwards we went along to the night market. The night market is just like a regular market. But at night.

Anyway, on the drive to the airport I had a funny feeling and guess what I realised? That’s right, it’s competition time!

The competition is called “Guessing the Combined Weight of our Suitcases Competition”. Here’s how you play:"

It is an actual competition so check the blog if your interested. You should atleast check out what the prize is. lol It's cheap but cool. I won't be entering because I'm useless at these guessing games.

HONG KONG: Here we are in Hong Kong airport standing behind our respective suitcases.

I forgot to talk about Franz Ferdinand's official website. This is the website I discovered the morning of the concert. I know that's a bit 'last minute' to check out their website, but what can you do?

Now about the website... It's really cool! If you like blogs you'll like this website. The band members actually write/type proper entries about themselves and what they are up to.

Here's an extract from the latest entry which is by Nick (29/01/06):

"We've been recording some b-sides and they're sounding too good to be true so life's being damn good to us. Bob met that tennis guy Federer in the lift the other day (he gets them all, first it's Eminem in the loo, then Federer in the lift, what will be next I ask you?)."
Paul by some strange looking building in Sydney.

You should have guessed by now that these photos have been taken from the website as well. These are some of their tour photos and the original titles are in red underneath. There are more funny ones so check it out.

Their photos remind me of the random photos that Kimmie is famous for and I thoroughly enjoy taking as well.

Now I shall list just a few of my favourite songs plus some of the lyrics. This is just out of my own obsession.

'Franz Ferdinand' - Their first album, which is self-titled (obviously). It was released on the 9th of February 2004.

02. Tell Her Tonight
After the concert I had the catchy guitar part stuck in my head all night. The part that plays during the verses of the song and forms the intro for the song.

"I only held her hand but she saw it
I only watched her walk but she saw it
I only touched her neck but she saw it
I only kissed her lips but she saw it
Gonna have to tell her tonight..."

04. The Dark Of The Matinée
I saw the video clip for this song a week before the concert. I had no idea this single was released! Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway) I love this song.

"You take your white finger
Slide the nail under
The top and bottom buttons of my blazer
Relax the fraying wool, slacken ties
And I'm not to look at you in the shoe
But the eyes
Find the eyes

Find me and follow me through corridors
Refectories and files you must follow
Leave this academic factory
You will find me in the matinee, the dark of the matinee
It's better in the matinee
The dark of the matinee is mine, yes it's mine..."

08. Darts Of Pleasure
I especially love the last part though I don't know what it means.

"...You can feel my lips undress your eyes
Undress your eyes, undress your eyes
Skin can feel my lips, they tingle tense anticipation
This was an easy one, feel the word and melt upon it
Words of love, words so leisured
Words are poisoned darts of pleasure
Tied and so you die

Ich heiße superfantastisch
Ich trinke Schampus mit Lachsfisch
Ich heiße superfantastisch..."

09. Michael
I loved this song after their concert. Before I bought the first album I did download all the songs so I had heard it before their performance, but I loved it after seeing it performed live.

"This is what I am, I am a man
So come and dance with me Michael
So strong now, it's strong now
So come and dance with me Michael

I'm all that you see, you you wanna see
So come and dance with me Michael
So close now, it's close now
So come and dance with me

Michael, you're the boy with all the leather hips
Sticky hair, sticky hips, stubble on my sticky lips
Michael, you're the only one I'd ever want

Beautiful boys on a beautiful dancefloor
Michael, you're dancing like a beautiful dance whore
Michael waiting on a silver platter now
And nothing matters now..."

You may wonder why I didn't include 'Take Me Out" or "This Fire", it's because they were the 2 big singles (that I had known of) that were released of this album. And you should know them already!

'You Could Have It So Much Better' - Their second and latest album which was released the 3rd of October 2005.

01. The Fallen
What can I say? It's a good song I love the intro... and the opening lyrics.

"So they say you're trouble boy
Because you like to destroy
All the things that bring idiots joy
Well what's wrong with a little destruction?..."

02. Do You Want To
Ah you MUST have heard THIS song already!

"...Well do you
Do you
Do you want to
Want to go where I'd never let you before..."

"...lucky lucky you're so lucky..."

03. This Boy
Love the chorus!

"...This boy is so spectacular
Not a boy but a wealthy bachelor
I want a car
I want a car..."

04. Walk Away
I believe this is their latest single. It's good, REALLY good, a definite change of pace compared to the first 3 songs on the album.

"I swapped my innocence for pride
Crushed the end within my stride
Said I'm strong now I know that I'm a leaver
I love the sound of you walking away
Mascara bleeds a blackened tear
And I am coldYes, I'm cold
But not as cold as you are
I love the sound of you walking away

Why don't you walk away?

Why don't you walk away?
No buildings will fall down
Why don't you walk away?
No quake will split the ground
Why don't you walk away?
The sun won't swallow the sky
Why don't you walk away?
Statues will not cry

Why don't you walk away?

I cannot turn to see those eyes
As apologies may rise
I must be strong and stay an unbeliever
And love the sound of you walking away
Mascara bleeds into my eye
I'm not coldI am old
At least As old as you are

As you walk away

As you walk away
My headstone crumbles down
As you walk away
The Hollywood wind's a howl
As you walk away
The Kremlin's falling
As you walk away
Radio Four is STATIC

As you walk away

The stab of stiletto
On a silent night
Stalin Smiles
Hitler laughs
Churchill claps
Mao Tse Tung
on the back"

In the end I included the whole song because I just couldn't decide on which section to include.

05. Evil And A Heathen
I only new the chorus of this song, so I made sure I had fun singing it at the concert. Another chorus I love.

"...I'm evil and a heathen
I'm a heathen and evil like you
There's not a lot I couldn't do..."

10. I'm Your Villain
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PART OF THE SONG!

"...If I could laugh I'd love you
If I could smile at anything you said
We could be laughing lovers
I think you'd prefer to be miserable instead
If I could love I'd love you
If I could love like anybody else..."
