you know, they don't even have a water polo team here? that's just going to be a problem for me here.

I am so glad that the O.C. has returned. A reminder of the routine I used to have during high-school that I'll no longer have again. It just won't be the same, but there are no words to describe just how bloody glad I am that yr 12 is over. It has been so long since I left my old routine that I even forgot the exact time the show started, I was just very eager.

The whole O.C. gang was there, and in keeping with tradition all loose ends from last year that divided everyone was brought back to Newport in one episode. I'm glad the creator and writers make sure something actually happens each episode otherwise it'd become a crappy teen soap-opera drama, which it isn't. I've been missing the clever one-liners, Seth Cohen's humour mixed in with his father and the sweet brother-bond with Ryan is unbeatable. Also, the references to pop culture of MY generation. I'm not saying I'm ignorant to references to things that have happened over 5 years ago, but it does seem strange to hear shows make reference to something so recent. Well I watch past movies and particularly thinking about all the time I spent analysing Clueless and all its references which naturally aren't up-to-date though easy for someone my age to pick up.

Okay, so the first episode of season two didn't consist of the references, or a lot of the humour and one-liners I love. But that has to be expected there was a lot of sorting that had to be done, and they had ended season one on a fairly serious note.

I can't wait to watch the next episode and am loving the familiarity of the show and its characters. And all the humour and drama.

what happens in the meadow at dawn?

Existential: Philosophy based upon our sense experience and reality.
Relating to or dealing with existence.
Existentialism: (It gets more complicated even just looking at the definitions from here. So I'll have to stop here.)

'I Heart Huckabees' is a funny, and crazy movie as my friend (who shall remain nameless) agrees. I went in not knowing much about it other than involving existential detectives, and not really understanding what existential means other than guessing it had something to do with existence. Which is fine because I enjoyed the movie and the entire film as well as script was hilarious. I can't remember lines from things easily (I have problems remembering lyrics to my favourite song) so I did a quick search and below are just some examples of what I'm talking about.

Albert Markovski: Nobody sits like this rock sits. You rock rock. The rock just sits and is. You show us how to just sit here and that's what we need.

Vivian Jaffe: Have you ever transcended space and time?
Albert Markovski: Uh, Time not space... No I don't know what you're talking about.

Bernard Jaffe: Say this blanket represents all the matter and energy in the universe, okay? This is me, this is you, And over here, this is the Eiffel Tower, right, it's Paris!

Albert Markovski: [about the body bag exercise] I can't go back in there. It's all hating faces that I have to chop up with a machete!

Tommy Corn: We'd all be heroes if we stopped using petroleum.

Dawn Campbell: You can't deal with my infinite nature can you?
Brad Stand: That is so not true. Wait what does that even mean?

Dawn Campbell: I'm in my tree, talking to the Dixie Chicks and they're making me feel better.

Brad Stand: How am I not myself?
Vivian Jaffe: Let's see, how am I not myself?
Bernard Jaffe: Myself
Vivian Jaffe: How am I not myself?
Bernard Jaffe: How am I not myself?
Vivian Jaffe: How am I not myself?

The opening voice-over monologue of Albert Markovski was an absurd introduction to a movie and character which made it funny but had swearing which I'm not comfortable with including on my blogspot.

the motorcycle diaries

I've known little to nothing about Ernesto "Che" Guevera other than him being a Southern American (I now know he is Argentinian) revolutionary who was killed and has become one of the most populer faces printed on a t-shirt. I suspect not everyone that wears those t-shirts actually know who he is but maybe I'm just hoping they are as ignorant as me.

I have to say (as much as I hate saying it), this movie is a perfect 'road movie' and would have been perfect for my Advanced English Module on 'Journeys.' I won't say too much or I'll risk slipping back into those classes where we analysed everything. It is a beautiful movie and inspiring, so much that I wish I could travel like Guevara and Alberto Granado de la Serna, and see South America. There are funny moments - dodgy motorcycle, native walking past the two best friends up the mountain carrying three times the baggage compared to Granado who had just passed out saying he can't go on. This is Guevera before graduating from medical school, before revolutionary years and the only hint of what was to come was Guevara's strong feeling against the injustices of the people he met. I have to stop here becuse I am not a critic, I just love this movie.
